{"id":282,"date":"2017-04-27T14:27:13","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T14:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deva-europe.org\/?p=282\/"},"modified":"2022-01-30T11:24:56","modified_gmt":"2022-01-30T11:24:56","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deva-europe.org\/en\/2017\/04\/27\/home\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Welcome to Deva Europe!<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>In the heart of Benares &#8212; Varanasi being\u00a0its official Indian name, Kashi for Hindu devotees &#8211; Deva-Europe brings support to Dr. Tulsi, who heads the Deva Center for mentally handicapped children.<\/p>\n<p>Building on the success of other, previous projects &#8211; preparatory schools for poor children and ashrams for leprosy victims &#8211; Deva-Europe and DISCC (&#8220;Deva International Society for Child Care&#8221;) henceforth are focusing\u00a0their efforts on helping mentally handicapped children. At the same time, they\u00a0continue to maintain\u00a0the Annapurna Center for Young Women in an Indian village near Varanasi.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Tulsi, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, created the first center for mentally handicapped children in Uttar Pradesh, the state where Varanasi\u00a0is located, in 1988. In 1991, he founded the D.I.S.C.C. (Deva International Society for Child Care) of which he is founding president. This foundation has been recognized by the Indian government and is approved under the Foreign Contribution Registration Act, allowing it to receive funds from abroad.\u00a0 Deva-Europe has supported the DISCC since 2000. Today, educators and their families still need our help to survive and carry on their mission of bringing dignified lives to mentally handicapped children.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Deva Europe!
